With the growing popularity of work from home jobs and online jobs, the days of walking around town turning in applications are long gone. Many of these jobs pay quite well, require little experience, and typically allow you to set your own schedule. Here are 11 such jobs that pay at least $12/hour, some quite a bit more than that.

1. Search Result Evaluator

Average Pay: $12-$15/hour

Would you believe that companies like Google will pay you to work from home and examine search results and ads to determine their quality?

Turns out they ABSOLUTELY will and here are the major players.

• Google: Google needs folks to work from home and examine Google search results to make sure they are always delivering exactly what the user wants. While they aren’t always hiring, visit the Google Career page and do a search for “Ad Quality Rater” to check for current online job openings.
• LionBridge (5/10/20): These guys are currently hiring “Social Media Internet Assessors”. Click Here to apply. Pay is between $12-$15 hour and you’d work 10-20 hours per week. From the job description, “you will be reviewing online search results in order to improve their content and quality. You will be required to provide feedback and analysis on content found in search engine results and provide ratings on their relevance to the search terms used.”
• Appen: Appen is almost always looking for “Web Search Evaluators” to help search engines fine tune their search results.  Click here to check for current openings.

This type of an online job could be a really fun and interesting way to get paid.

2. Content Writer

Average Pay: $16-$32/hr

Companies with websites and blogs need content and are willing to pay handsomely for it.

Whether it’s articles for the company blog or sponsored articles for online publications, there exists many way to write and earn. Here are some great content writing opportunities.

• Career Builder.com: They currently offer full time, part time, seasonal, and temporary content writing positions which pay in the $25 – $55 / hour range.
• Monster.com: Writing positions currently include gigs with Amazon, ICON Fitness, and Collabera. It looks like new jobs are added almost daily.
• FlexJobs.com: I love FlexJobs as the site actually lets you apply for the writing job directly through their online portal. They have a BUNCH of well-paying writing gigs from big-name companies.

Tip: The more high-quality content you write, the more you’ll be in-demand and thus can charge more money per article.

3. Virtual Assistant

Average Pay: $13-$18/hr

A virtual assistant (also known as a VA) is a position where you work from home and help an individual or small company with administrative, technical, and creative assistance. Here are the two best places to search for virtual assistant jobs…

• Freelancer.com: The Freelancer platform lets you browse through a bunch of VA positions and search for jobs that fit your salary and time requirements.
• Zirtual.com: They currently have a remote virtual assistant position that pays $13-$18/hour. Job requires you to live in the U.S. and work from 9am to 6pm ET.

4. Customer Support Rep

Average Pay: $10-$16/hr

If you like interacting with people and have good phone skills, a customer support rep could be right up your alley.

• Amazon.com: Visit the Amazon careers page and search for “Customer Service” jobs. They typically have openings to work from home and answer calls and chat with Amazon customers about their orders. This is especially true in October and November as they gear up for the holidays.
• Career Builder.com: Visit this page and check out a bunch of customer service jobs.
• CVS Drugstore: In many states, CVS is hiring customer service reps. The first few months require you to work at a call center but after that you stand a great chance of being able to work from home.

Most customer support jobs only require a good Internet connection and a decent laptop or desktop.

5. Answering Service Worker

Average Pay: $12-$14/hour

Another good online job is an answering service employee. Get paid to answer incoming calls from businesses, help callers find employees, and route them to the correct place. Here are a couple great places to start.

• Appletree Answering Service: They are the industry leader and a terrific place to start your job search.
• Voice Nation: They service many industries including real estate, medical, construction, and much more.

Many answering service jobs require you to start working at a call center with the work-at-home option becoming available later.

6. Document Translator

Average Pay: $11-$33/hour

If you can translate from English to French, Chinese, Korean, Turkish, or dozens of other languages, your skills are in high demand. If you’re interested in doing document translation check out these resources.

• Freelancer.com: This popular site posts new translator jobs every day. The pay ranges from $11/hour all the way up to single jobs that pay well over $500 each.
• Gengo.com: Once you sign-up with Gengo, they’ll help you find translator jobs that you can pick and choose from. You can then set your own schedule and work when it’s convenient for you. The average Gengo associate earns about $417 per month.

You might as well put your foreign language skills to good use and get paid.

7. Social Media Consultant/Evaluator

Average Pay: $10-$30/Hour

Whether it’s responding to customer questions on Facebook, or posting new pics on Instagram, companies are always trying to expand their reach on social media.

The good news for all you social media experts out there is that you can get paid really well to help companies grow their social media accounts. Here are some great resources to help you find gigs.

• Appen: They are always looking for self-motivated employees to work from home as “Social Media Evaluators”. If you consider yourself well versed in social media it could be a great fit.
• FlexJobs.com: FlexJobs is a great place to look for jobs as Social Media specialists, managers, editors, and coordinators. Many of which are entry level but still pay in the $10-$16/hour range.

If you’re going to be surfing Facebook, Instagram, and Twitter anyways, you might as well get paid for it, right?

8. Online Teacher/Tutor

Average Pay: $12-$45/Hour

If you have a bachelor’s degree and are versed in math, English, or science, apply to be an online tutor or teacher. Convert your knowledge into extra income and do it all from home.

• Teach Away.com: Apply with Teach Away and gain access to a bunch of online teaching and tutoring jobs. Set your own schedule and gain valuable teaching experience in a 1-on-1 setting.
• Indeed.com: Check out Indeed for a full list of online teaching jobs available. Most gigs pay in the $20-$30 per hour range.

9. Resume Writer

Average Pay: Up to $25 Per Page.

If you’re a freelance writer (or have HR experience) and have resume and cover letter writing experience, your skills are highly sought after. Here are some great places to look for an online job in this field.

• WriteZillas: According to their site, all you need to apply is “excellent written and spoken English, ability to work within timelines, and consistent access to a computer.” They pay a little less than others at $15/page.
• Indeed.com: Indeed lists a bunch of job opening for resume writers and technical writers. Jobs are from all over the country and most are work-from-home.
• Resume Edge.com: If hired, you’ll write and edit resumes, cover letters, and LinkedIn profiles. They pay the most by far but they also have the strictest standards in their new hires.

It may be time to put your writing skills to good use and become a resume writer.

10. Captcha Typing Job (Yes, Seriously)

Average Pay: Varies

Can you believe that you can get paid to type in Capthcas? You know, those annoying words you have to type-in to prove you’re a human and not a robot. Here are some sites that’ll pay you.

• MegaTypers: In the beginning you can earn $0.45 per 1,000 Captcha. Then as you get better you can make up to $1.50 per 1000.
• Kolotibablo: One of the leaders in this industry. They’ll pay you between 35 cents to $1 for every 1,000 Captcha you type correctly.
• 2Captcha: Another big player that’ll eventually pay you about a buck for every 1,000 Captcha typed.

You won’t get rich with these resources but if you have some free time and type fast, you can easily make some beer money.

11. Be a Transcriber

Average Pay: $10-$25/hour

Transcribing is generally defined as listening to an audio file and typing out what you hear. The faster you type, the more money you’ll make.

TIP: Avoid medical transcribing in the beginning as it requires you to get certified. Here are some resources to check out.

• TranscribeMe! – Join their team and work as much or as little as you want and get paid for it. You’ll be asked to transcribe short 2-4 minute clips, not ridiculously long interviews.
• Daily Transcription – Give their testing website a try to see if you’re a good fit. If so, they’ll hook you up with plenty of good paying work that you can do from home.
• AccuTran Global – With a huge list of clients needing transcribing work, AccuTran is worth a strong look.
