Do you have something to take back and wondering what the Walmart return hours are? You’re in the right spot. Their return hours actually changed when COVID hit and it looks like their “new” hours are here to stay. We also answer when is the best time to make a return to avoid the crowd, and how long it takes for you to get your money back. I hope this information helps you out.

What Are The Walmart Returns Hours? Here's Exactly How It Works

What Are the Walmart Return Hours?

6 a.m. – 11 p.m. is typical, but not the rule anymore.

The majority of Walmart stores have return hours between 6 a.m. – 11 p.m. which match their regular store hours.

There are some exceptions to this as certain stores don’t open until 7 a.m., and many close their returns as early as 8 p.m..

Also, many Walmart return desks close early on Sundays, often by 6 p.m.

To be 100% safe, check the hours of your local store by using the Walmart store finder.

Where In The Store Do I Go to Make a Return?

The Customer Service counter is where you’ll want to go to make your in-store return.

This is typically located near the front of Walmart or near the side entrance.

Do Any Walmart Stores Have 24/7 Return Hours?

No.

During the COVID pandemic, Walmart made the decision to limit store hours and not have any stores open 24/7.

And it appears they have no plans to make stores 24/7 again.

Thus you won’t be able to make any more of those late night returns when the store is practically empty.

Can I Make a Return After Money Center Closes?

Yes.

Most Money Centers at Walmart close at 8 p.m..

But that’s not a problem when making a return, as the customer service desk stays open to accept your return until the store closes.

When is the Best Time to Make a Return?

If at all possible, go early and avoid the weekends.

If you can arrive before 8 a.m. on a Monday, Tuesday, or Wednesday you’ll be able to make your return VERY quickly.

If you go on a Saturday or Sunday in the middle of the day, expect a LONG line at most Walmart stores.

How Long Will It Take to Get My Refund?

Up to 10 business days. (according to Walmart)

In many cases, it does not take 10 full business days to get the money back to your credit card, according to current employee Felicia, it’s usually more like 3-4 days.

I was also surprised that a Walmart rep told me it takes up to 10 business days for a debit card return. whereas Felicia said 2-4 days is more accurate.

Have any of you made a return on their debit card?

How long did it take for your return to process and for the money to show up in your bank account?

Also, it’s worth noting the EBT returns are immediately placed back on your EBT card.

How Long Do Online Returns Take to Process?

5- 7 business days.

Once Walmart receives your return in the mail, and they process it, you can expect to get your refund (to your credit card) in 5-7 business days.

Can I Make a Return After Hours?

No.

You are beholden to the store hours of your local Walmart as to when you can make a return.

Can I Make a Return at a Checkout Aisle?

No.

Once I was trying to make a return, and there was a long line at the customer service desk and I decided to try and make my return at a regular checkout line.

There was nobody in line so I figured it was worth a shot, unfortunately the cashier was NOT able to help me and directed me to the back of the line at the customer service center.

Ask the Reader: Did you ever shop and make late night returns at Walmart back when they were open 24/7? I did it a couple times and it was the best Walmart shopping experience I ever had.

What customers service close on sunday

Tamy

The returns close at 8pm at my Walmart. Store closes at 11pm.

Felicia

Debit cards and credit cards only take 2-4 days. I’ve had a return show up on my debit card 2-3 days after making the return. EBT cards are immediate, and credit cards have taken me 3-4 days. Debit card is always fast though. They just give you the 10-day bull crap in case they mess up something on their end. Just like the post office saying USPS informed delivery expected mail is 1-3 days, not the same day. It’s a lie. Informed delivery is the mail you should receive that day. It gets scanned at your local post office, not a random warehouse. So if you didn’t receive something, your postal worker was lazy and didn’t deliver it, or they forgot it. It’s never just “lost”. My postal worker was lazy and had my insurance check in his truck for 3 days and I caught him not delivering it on purpose. Moral of the story: Everything shouldn’t take more than 3 days.

All of the Walmarts near me used to be 24/7 but the customer service desk closed at 10 PM. After corona all of the customer service desk close at 8 PM so you can’t do any returns after that which is terrible for people who have to work the graveyard shift. Not everybody gets a 9 to 5 Monday through Friday work schedule.

Customer service should be open the same hours that the store is open because after 8 PM you cannot find a manager or anybody who gives a crap about what your problem maybe whether it’s returns needing help in electronics or lines backed up at self check out you cannot get any help, at least not in the East Mesa, Arizona stores.

Is it customer service like service for the customers? So if your store is open and has customers in it shouldn’t you have customer service for your customers or just shut the store down like how simple is that so at 8 o’clock? None of your customers get any kind of service. After eight then right just wondering if you’re reading this or hearing this the same way I am.

I thought the customer is always right that’s called trying to squeeze every little penny out you can but not provide your customers with adequate service and then plus your customer service managers employees all of them all have attitude all of them think everybody’s stealing something or trying to get over and they treat it like it’s their crap like if something were to come up missing it comes out of their pocket. Sad.

Tried to call my local Walmart superstore to find out what time the service desk closes. I tried the operator, no one answered. So then I tried three other departments, and nobody answered. Very frustrating when you can’t get a simple question answered via telephone. In my opinion, all the Walmarts completely suck anymore.

Kramer

That is so true they do not answer no calls

Literally every time I go to Walmart I mutter to myself how much I hate Walmart. My store like most is open until 11:00. Just tried to return something at 7:10 pm and there were 3 peeps working in the service desk area, all 3 looking at me like I had two heads: “Ma’am, we’re CLOSED.” Like wtf??

I hate Walmart 😑

Jenny

My store ends returns at 8pm (Miami). I went in on Sunday and suddenly it’s closed at 6pm. Horrible. This article gives terrible advice because no walmart takes returns until closing time.
