Target Drive-Up Returns Service: Here's EXACTLY How It Works

How Exactly Does Target “Drive-Up Returns” Work?

Target Drive-Up returns make the return process a lot easier.

Here are the simple steps on how the Target Drive-Up returns process works:

1. Initiate your return via the Target app or your Target.com account. Be sure to select the correct product(s) you wish to return.

2. You’ll receive a barcode once you’ve initiated the return. This barcode will need to be shown to a Target employee when you arrive at the store.

3. Next, let Target know your on your way via the app.

4. Pull up to the Drive Up Returns area at your Target and tell them “I’m here” via the app.

5. When the Target employee gets to your car, show them the barcode you received when you initiated the return.

6. You’ll immediately receive a refund and be credited the amount you paid for your returned item(s).

Note: A return confirmation will be sent to your email as well as within the Target app.

Why Would Shoppers Use This Service?

While this isn’t a money saving hack for Target, their Drive-Up service definitely make shoppers’ lives easier.

First, this service allows you to make a return without ever stepping foot outside of your car.

All you need to do is drive to your local Target, have the return initiated on your Target account, and you’re good to go.

Second, this service makes it super helpful for parents of small kids or pet parents alike.

No longer will you have to bring your child (or pet) with you into the store and exert all the stress and energy it can sometimes take bringing your kids in and out of the car.

Last but not least, the service is really convenient.

Not only do you get to stay in the comfort of your car, but the process is in theory more efficient than going into the store.

No…but it makes it easier.

While you may be able to login into your account and print off the barcode to make your return, having the Target app makes the return process a lot easier.

What If I Don’t Have a Smartphone?

Not a problem.

So, before you leave to make your return, be sure to login to your Target.com account on your computer (or any device you have), initiate the return, and then print out the return barcode.

This way you’ll have a barcode the Target employee will be able to scan to process your return.

When you get to Target you’ll have to call them to tell them you’ve arrived.
