While American Eagle is a relatively affordable clothing retailer, nothing beats saving a few bucks on your next apparel purchase. Fortunately, if you’re currently student, you have the chance to use a 20% student discount on all full-priced items at American Eagle. But with any student discount, there are some caveats and fine print you NEED to know. Read on to learn more about the American Eagle student discount, and how you can start using it for yourself.

What’s the AE Student Discount?

Qualifying college students can get up to 20% off using the American Eagle student discount using UNiDAYS.

Unidays is a website that offers exclusive sales and discounts to eligible college and university students.

How Do I Apply for the Student Discount?

To receive the 20% discount, you first need to sign up on the Unidays website.

On Unidays, you’ll need to provide your current .edu student email address and/or a school ID or documents proving your current college or university status.

Once you’ve successfully enrolled, you’ll then be able to use the provided promo code to get a 20% discount at American Eagle.

Not to mention, you can use your Unidays account to find and save big at other popular stores too.

Is It Good for High-School and College Students?

Yes…if you’re at least 16 years old.

The AEO student discount (and all Unidays student discounts for that matter) is only available to students aged 16 or over.

So if you’re a high school student, but under 16, you DON’T qualify for the American Eagle student discount.

What If I Don’t Have a .edu Email Address?

If you don’t have a student .edu email address, you can still sign up for Unidays.

Either upload a current photo of your school ID or provide documentation as proof you are a current student at a college or university.

I wanted to get some more clarification on exactly how this works, so I hit up Unidays on Twitter and asked the question.

I was told that if you’re 16+, to drop an email to [email protected] with either your institution email address, or student ID, so they can help verify your account.

Can I Use the Discount on Clearance Items?

No.

Unfortunately, you can ONLY use your 20% student discount on full-priced items.

Therefore, don’t expect to be able to use your student discount on items that are in the sale or clearance section, or have a percentage off.

Can It Be Used Online and In-Store?

Yes.

You can use your 20% off student discount BOTH online -OR- in-store at American Eagle.

When online shopping, you’ll simply provide your Unidays promo code at checkout.

When shopping in-store, you’ll provide a barcode (from Unidays) that the American Eagle employee can scan and your 20% discount will be applied.

Can I Use the Discount with an AEO Coupon?

No.

You CANNOT use other American Eagle coupons or discounts along with your student discount.

In other words, you can’t stack or combine your 20% student discount with another percentage-off discount.

However, if you are signed up for the American Eagle loyalty program, you can earn points (“Real Rewards”) which can add up to $5 off rewards.

You CAN then combine these $5 off rewards with your 20% student discount for even more savings.
